TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — The City of Collinsville posted on social media Monday, saying there wasn't enough money in the budget to buy enough wreaths for every veteran buried at Ridgelawn Cemetery this Christmas.
Every year, cities across the country lay wreaths on the graves of fallen heroes as part of the Wreaths Across America program. The City of Collinsville partners with the Collinsville American Legion and the Collinsville VFW to honor and remember more than 900 of its local veterans.
This year, city officials said they only had enough to purchase wreaths for less than half of the fallen heroes.
Then on Wednesday, Cherokee Nation announced it was donating $6,000 to the City for the wreaths.
