City of Tulsa unveils photos of new downtown parking garage opening in 3 months
TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) -- In just 90 days there will be a new shining fixture in downtown Tulsa -- a parking garage off 5th and Boston.
“There’s such a need for parking garages in downtown right now," said Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum.
Especially for those living and working nearby.
Mayor GT Bynum and Price Family Properties shared photos at a press conference Thursday.
“This parking garage is going to open up and improve the marketability of all of the buildings that are in this area," said Bynum.
He says there are too many wasted spaces downtown, so vertical parking lots are the way to go.
“I’m just very excited for it to come online," said Bynum.
The $128 million complex will house 500 parking spots and will include 3,000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor.
“We’re hoping it will be a great restaurant that people can have breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks after work," said President Jackie Price of Price Family Properties.
She says the garage will be monthly parking, mainly serving those in this area.
“The parking in downtown is pretty limited, and to fill a big building like that, you need a lot of parking," said Price.
“We don’t want to just build plain-Jane parking garages downtown, we want parking garages that have access on the first floor for restaurants and retail, so that people that are walking around downtown have something to enjoy there," said Bynum.
The fresh take on parking downtown should be complete in three months.
