
CLAREMORE, Okla. (KTUL) -- State health officials are saying the new age group encountering the highest COVID-19 cases are younger people.
They say people between 18 to 35 are contracting the virus more than other age groups.
It's Food Truck Thursday in Claremore, the first one in months and yet despite the growing COVId-19 numbers statewide, the road was packed.
"You're not going to hide from it; it's everywhere. I just think we need to just get back to life," said Veronica.
"Just because we don't have strong symptoms doesn't mean we don't have the virus," said Oklahoma State Health Department Regional Director Maria Alexander.
There’s clearly more COVID-19 numbers statewide daily than ever before, and Rogers County is not immune.
"We got to remember the basics of social distancing, good hand hygiene," said Alexander.
The Oklahoma State Health Department says statewide numbers continue to spike.
Since Memorial Day Alexander says the majority of Oklahomans that have tested positive with COVID-19 in Rogers County and statewide have been younger people, 18 to 35.
Cedar Point church just opened its doors two weeks ago.
Child pastor Aaron Shaw says their numbers have been inconsistent.
Main Street executive director Jacob Garrison says they have signs to help keep people apart.
"It's critical to wear a mask in public," said Alexander.
Advice to keep you safe as a new demographic navigates a COVID-19 world.
The Rogers County health department is offering free COVID-19 testing at any of their sites and will have drive-thru testing on next Tuesday.
