Collinsville man arrested after alleged molestation at Claremore Recreation Center
CLAREMORE, Okla. (KTUL) – A Collinsville man has bonded out of the Rogers County Jail after being arrested and charged with two counts of lewd molestation.
John Bucklin, 66, was booked as part of a joint investigation between the Claremore Police Department and the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office.
According to court documents, Bucklin is accused of inappropriately touching two boys when he took them swimming at the Claremore Recreation Center, but the papers also list offenses that took place at his home in Collinsville in Tulsa County.
The Tulsa County District Attorney is still looking at the case.
The documents also say that the younger of the two victims is getting mental health care after a suicide attempt.
Police said Bucklin befriended the boys after meeting their family through church.
Officer Brian Burnett of the Claremore Police Department said, “He will get involved with these juvenile males and become their mentor and take them on outings, such as hiking, camping and going swimming during men’s breakfasts at a church and stuff like that."
Officers want parents to be aware of the case because they said there's a potential for it to grow.
Burnett said, “We want people to be aware of that if there was any involvement with this gentleman and if there are any concerns there might have been anything inappropriate. Law enforcement needs to know."
He was released on a $50,000 bond.
