Cosmetics company 'SeneGence' puts up artwork plans for downtown Sapulpa

Cosmetics company "SeneGence" puts up artwork plans for downtown Sapulpa (KTUL)

Sapulpa is in line to see some major growth, and it’s all thanks to a cosmetics company that’s renovating the downtown area.

Individual pieces of artwork are being installed outside buildings in the area.

It’s a tedious process, but the renovations have been the talk of the town for months.

“Joni has always stressed the emphasis of giving back to your community," said Mark Lawson.

Joni Rogers-Kante, a Sapulpa native, founded SeneGence, a well-known skin care and cosmetics company renowned globally.

You’ve probably seen their LipSense products on your Facebook pages.

“She wants to do great things for Sapulpa, which has been my home, too," said Lawson, which is why the company purchased the historic buildings.

The plan is to turn them into restaurants, apartments, a hotel and an ice cream parlor.

“We have the most beautiful downtown in all of Oklahoma," said Lawson.

It's artwork that's getting businesses excited about what could, in turn, help them down the road.

Places like Little Bit of Country, which sits directly across the street from the buildings.

“We’re all excited," said owner Diane Gloden.

Gloden has worked on Main Street for more than 30 years.

She says this is the kind of boost they’ve needed.

“It’ll be great for our tax dollars, and it'll be great for shopping," said Gloden. “We’ll have to be open later and that’s good and bad."

The buildings have had some construction issues, but if all goes well, renderings will be available in December.

For now, this artwork is serving as a welcome preview.

There hasn’t been a date set for construction to begin or when the buildings will begin to open.
