A new study by a Wisconsin law firm says Oklahoma has the second highest crash rate in the country on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

The following states have the highest crash rates (most dangerous states):

  1. Mississippi
  2. Oklahoma
  3. South Carolina
  4. Wyoming
  5. Texas

The following states have the lowest crash rates:

  1. North Dakota
  2. Delaware
  3. Rhode Island
  4. Minnesota
  5. Vermont

The study found more than 1,000 people were killed in collisions across the United States on New Year's Eve or Day.

Most of the crashes happened from 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. on New Year's Eve and between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. on New Year's Day.

In the five years, Oklahoma had 33 total deadly crashes, where 35 people were killed, 12 of them involved drunk drivers.
