TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) -- Convicted cop killer David Ware is set to be formally sentenced by a judge Friday, just over two weeks after a jury recommended a death sentence for the murder of Tulsa Police Sgt. Craig Johnson.

Once he's sentenced, Ware will go immediately to death row in McAlester. The court will set Ware's execution date within 90 days of his formal sentencing.

Ware can file up to five appeals, according to Oklahoma law. He is likely to be the 43rd inmate sitting on Oklahoma's death row.

Sentencing is expected to start at 9 a.m.
