Community mourns after school van involved in deadly crash

Tragedy struck Thursday in Adair County.

A State Line Christian Academy van was involved in a head-on crash in Watts, leaving multiple people dead. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says it happened around 6 p.m. on U.S. Highway 59 at Bakery Feed Mill Road.

The crash involved two vehicles, one of which was the State Line Christian Academy van carrying 10 passengers including a driver. The other vehicle was a 1991 Dodge Ram.

The driver of the van, a 34-year-old woman from Westville, was pronounced dead at the scene, as well as a 13-year-old girl and an 11-year-old girl.

A 7-year-old girl, a 5-year-old girl, and another 13-year-old girl were taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the Dodge Ram, identified as 61-year-old Larry Valentine from Cane Hill, Ark., was also pronounced dead at the scene.

His passenger was admitted to the hospital in critical condition.
