TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) -- It’s the first one you’ll see in Tulsa, maybe even Oklahoma -- a medical marijuana dispensary sharing a space with a longtime coffee house.
Eufloria opened its doors just inside The Gypsy Coffee House a few days ago.
“Kinda do my artwork, and it is relaxing,” Quinn Chipman, a frequent Gypsy Coffee House customer, said, but today was the first time he bought more than just coffee and breakfast.
Gypsy Coffee now shares a building with Eufloria Dispensary. The co-founders say it’s the first of its kind.
Customers can buy medical marijuana, go into the café to get food, and then utilize the patio for any smokable marijuana.
“Just perfect to come here in the mornings, get some work done. I am able to medicate and go about my day,” Chipman said.
The coffee house has been a staple in the area for a long time, so co-founders Timothy Borgmann and Eric Dangler knew this was the type of place they wanted to open a first-of-its-kind cannabis café.
“It has a very comfortable vibe; people feel free to come in and sit down, play a game of chess right here on the board,” Borgmann said.
You don’t need a medical marijuana card to go to Gypsy. Borgmann says it’s just an added bonus for those who use medical marijuana, and he says, hopefully, an eye-opening experience for those who don’t.
“How medical, how proper, and how legal it can be to have cannabis right there with a coffee shop or with a restaurant,” he said.
Dangler says it’s just another way to put Tulsa on the map, and it's their hope that it helps many while also bringing growth to the city.
“It is very edgy. It is progressive, forward-thinking. It is exciting. It is vibrant,” Dangler said.
The Gypsy Coffee House hours will stay the same, but Eufloria is open 24/7.
They are working on opening a third business in the coming months.
