Authorities say a man who escaped a Cleveland County prison is back in custody after being found several states away.

Police say Ronnie Henderson was arrested at a Super 8 in Phoenix Monday night. Investigators tracked him there after he was able to escape the Rex Thompson minimum security facility in Lexington Saturday night.

"We are extremely thankful for the efforts tonight of the Phoenix Police Department, as well as our many other dedicated partners in law enforcement who always assist us when we have an escapee," said ODOC Director Joe M. Allbaugh.

Henderson is serving a 40-year sentence for possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, eluding police, and manufacturing a controlled dangerous substance.

Henderson was reportedly surprised to find that law enforcement had tracked him to Phoenix.
