OILTON, Okla. (KTUL) – Shylo Kellogg and his family are looking for a two-toned orange and white 1959 Chevy Apache Fleetside pickup after it was stolen off of their property near Highway 99 and West 61st Street South.

“This is actually a family heirloom, “ he said. “The truck came down from my great-grandpa, then it came down to my grandpa, then to my dad and then to my brother.”

His dad, Doug Ainge, said he was devastated when he found out.

“My heart sunk,” he said. “I went camping and hunting and hiking and fishing my whole life in this truck. That was my best times as a kid.”

Kellogg planned to give it to his son after getting it to work again.

“My brother and I dumped every bit of money we had extra into rebuilding the truck,” he said. “When these people took it, you could see how heartbreaking it was. You see all of these old vehicles sitting in people’s yards that they are never going to do anything with. We were actually in the process of working on this one.”

They are continuing to search for it.

“I guarantee we get it back, it’ll be locked up so no one else can get to it,” Kellogg said. “There are only a handful of people who come up here, and it’s Petco Oil and it is us.”

He’s looking at surveillance camera footage for answers, but the footage is deleted from the day it was taken.

“The people who took the truck knew where the camera was,” Kellogg said. “They took the card, then put the card back.”

He’s now narrowing down other possibilities.

“I’ve talked to all the salvage yards that are close from Tulsa to Cushing,” Kellogg said. “I’ve talked to all the police around here. To have someone take something like that, it just hits you to the core. It meant a lot to everybody in the family. That’s why it is so important we try to get this vehicle back."
