TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — Human remains found were found in Turley Sunday morning, and the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Department has not identified who it is.
According to the family of Dwayne Shelby, Jack Grimes, and Glenda "Cookie" Parton, three of the four missing people from Turley, the remains were not their loved ones.
Shannon Miller is the fourth missing person.
The family of Miller says he’s been missing since October 19.
Jessica Gerhard, Shannon’s cousin says investigators on the scene gave her very little information about those remains found near 61st Street North and Utica.
“It was unidentifiable, scattered along the woody area and basically said they couldn’t tell me anything and that’s when of the officers told me the feds had Shannon’s case,” said Gerhard.
The family says they were told because Shannon is Cherokee, the FBI is now over his case. Even though they were there standing with deputies, they say were told any information would have to come from the FBI.
Hours earlier deputies began searching the area for clues.
“We received a 911 call some hunters were tracking a deer through the field behind me when they entered the tree line they located the body,” said Casey Roebuck, with the Tulsa Sherriff’s department.
They say the body the condition of the body is so bad due to the apparent trauma and animals in the area.
“We can’t even tell if the person we have is a male or a female,” said Roebuck.
Miller's family says they now have a private investigator working to help bring him home.
They say some of his belongings were found near Bird Creek.
They’re working to get in contact with property owners near the creek to search the area for any other clues.
