FC Tulsa players visit students at The Common Good during spring break camp
TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — Several players from FC Tulsa stopped by The Common Good to spend time with campers during their Spring Break Sports Camp.
Young athletes in second to sixth grade got to spend the afternoon with FC Tulsa players Chase Bromstedt and Siad Haji.
The players helped with warm-ups, assisted with soccer drills, and played skill-based games with the students.
“At its core, FC Tulsa is a community soccer club, and one of our core pillars is to make Tulsa a better place to live, work, and play,” said Keith Richardson, Senior Director of Community Engagement for FC Tulsa. “Getting to go out and work with our community partners and help further that mission is not only fulfilling for the communities we serve but also for our players. Many of our players have come from all over the world to be a part of what we are building here. They love to get involved and help teach others the sport they love!”
The Common Good's athletic programs consist of daily sports activities after school.
There are also competitive leagues for elementary, middle, and high-school-aged students to take part in for soccer and basketball.
Recently, the "Little Hoppers" program was launched for pre-kindergarten through first-graders to learn the basics of basketball while gaining physical fitness and understanding teamwork.
The Common Good says over 20 students are participating in the new program, which will shift to the "Little Strikers" when soccer season begins.
The organization caters to families in northwest Tulsa to provide resources, services, and opportunities for youth in the area so that they may overcome the social and economic challenges they face.
