Firecracker likely to blame for house fire that killed couple's four dogs, destroyed home

HENRYETTA, Okla. (KTUL) -- A Henryetta couple lost everything to a fire on the Fourth of July.

"This is where we all gathered, watched movies, played games, played with the dogs," home owner Ryan Vincent said.

That's all a memory now for Vincent and his fiance Chelsea Sams.

"It's just been her and I for three years," Vincent said. "We've worked together; we've built everything up. We've saved. Everything in here was paid for."

Firefighters think it was a firecracker that blew through a window and burned the house.

“None of this would have ever happened had the people shooting the fireworks been educated," Vincent said.

"It happens, and you are not here, and you can't save anything; you can't save your animals," Sams said. "It is heartbreaking."

Sams would give up the house any day to get back what else they lost that day.

"I was worried about my dogs," Sams said

Their dogs, Ellie, Sassy, Paris and Lady didn't make it out of the house.

"Those weren't just our pets, we thought of them as our family and our kids," Vincent said. "That's all we had."

Now, they're forced to start over, but they will do it one step at a time.

"It is going to be hard, because I won't have my dogs," Sams said.

"Keep going, keep fighting," Vincent said.

Sams and Vincent are getting married in two weeks.

They also got a new puppy to help keep them going.

The cause of fire is still under investigation.

If you would like to help Vincent and Sams, a GoFundMe page is set up in their honor.
