BrogdonMUSKOGEE, Okla. (KTUL) -- Eight officers are on leave after a stabbing call turned into a deadly officer-involved shooting in Muskogee.
Police were responding to a stabbing and say Danny Brogdon was assaulting his partner and her daughter.
They're both expected to survive.
One of the victims filed a protective order against Brogdon just hours before he attacked them.
He has also been charged with several violent crimes before this.
"Literally, our call was, 'He's stabbed me, and he's stabbing my mother right now. He's trying to kill her,'" said Officer Lincoln Anderson with Muskogee police.
When police got to the house, they began to treat two victims with stab wounds.
However, Brogdon wouldn't drop his knife.
Police said they used three different tactics to de-escalate the situation, but he wouldn't back down.
"Our officers did everything they possibly could've done to prevent from having to shoot him. Unfortunately, we can't determine what his intentions are, only what he gives," said Anderson.
Some of the tactics, like when they tried to tase him, just didn't work and that's when police said they had to shoot Brogdon.
"It's bad all the way around. No officer wants to be put in the situation they were put in. But we also have a duty to our community to go out and protect who we need to protect," said Anderson.
A Women in Safe Homes court advocate Karen Lewis said the fact that this woman filed a protective order and he still attacked her shows even further steps need to be taken.
"It's just a piece of paper," said Lewis.
She recommends seeking help and coming up with an actual plan that would keep you safe.
"It's about power and control. So yes, he will go through anybody and everybody if need be to get to her," said Lewis.
The officer-involved shooting is still under investigation.
