Committes in both the Oklahoma House and Senate have passed a general revenue bill and a teacher pay raise bill Thursday.

The House Joint Committee on Appropriations and Budget passed HB1033 Thursday with a 21 to 5 vote. The plan, endorsed by Step Up Oklahoma, raises an estimated $581 million in revenue by taxing cigarettes, tobacco, fuel, wind and increasing the gross production tax on wells to four percent for the first 36 months.

The committee unanimously voted to pass a bill (HB1030) giving Oklahoma teachers a $5,000 pay raise. The bill would only go into effect if HB1033 is passed.

Both bills now head to the floor of the Oklahoma House.

The Senate JCAB followed suit Thursday afternoon, passing HB1033 and HB1030.
