Inhofe, Lankford sticking with Kavanaugh following hearing
WASHINGTON, D.C. (KOKH) —
After a tear-jerking, fiery and often-contentious hearing on Capitol Hill yesterday, most senators remain unchanged in their opinions of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
Oklahoma's lawmakers are no exception.
Senator Jim Inhofe, who has ardently supported Kavanaugh in the past, stood by the nominee Thursday night.
"Judge Kavanaugh has proven time and time again that @POTUS made the right choice for Supreme Court -- he did so again today with his testimony," tweeted Inhofe. "It's time to confirm Judge Kavanaugh."
Inhofe also released a video on social media criticizing Democrats and claiming they "thoroughly politicized" the hearing on sexual assault hearing.
Senator James Lankford also released a statement in support of the nominee.
"After a long and painful day of testimony, my opinion of Judge Kavanaugh has not changed," wrote Lankford. "I will vote to confirm Judge Kavanaugh when he is referred from the Senate Judiciary Committee.”
The Judiciary Committee is expected to vote on Kavanaugh's nomination Friday. He could see a full Senate vote as early as Saturday.
