Investigation underway after an inmate was found dead in Haskell County

A Haskell County inmate was found dead in his cell Saturday morning, according to theHaskell County Sheriff's Office.

They say the inmate was found deceased in his cell.

The sheriff's office says a detention officer spoke to the inmate at 4:00 a.m staff was notified by other inmates at approximately 5:50 a.m, that the inmate was unresponsive.

Haskell County Sheriff Tim Turner requested the assistance of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner's Office.

The investigation has been turned over to OSBI and the preliminary investigation shows no suspicion of foul play.

The inmate has been transported to the State Medical Examiners Office for further investigation.

Sheriff Turner also advised that the Haskell County Criminal Justice Center employees followed county policy and state guidelines in this situation.
