TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — A jury has recommended a life sentenced for a man who was charged with 1st-degree murder for beating his roommate.
Donald Cowans, 56, was arrested after police learned that he beat his roommate Leroy Coleman that later resulted in his death.
Coleman was beat on Jan. 16. The next day Cowans was shot at their home after answering a knock at the door.
Homicide detectives learned that Cowens' was shot in retaliation for allegedly beating Coleman.
On Tuesday, a jury found Cowans guilty and recommended a life sentence.
His sentencing has been set for Oct. 18.
