TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — The Tulsa Police Department arrested a man they say dealt a near fatal blow to a man he had never spoken to before.
Monday evening, officers were called to a home near 15th and Denver for an "axeing".
Investigators learned that the suspect, Israel Trejo, was inside the home where he was deciding to buy an axe from someone.
The victim, a 21-year-old man, was sitting on the couch eating, and the two never spoke to each other.
Police say after holding the axe for a few minutes, Trejo swung the axe and buried it deep into the victim's head.
The victim was rushed to the hospital with the axe still inside his head. At this time, doctors do not expect the victim to live.
Trejo ran from the home but was shortly caught by police near 6th and Peoria.
Police say there were several witnesses to the incident and it was all captured on security cameras as well.
Trejo was booked into Tulsa County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon, but if the victim dies, the charge will be upgraded to 1st degree murder.
