Medical marijuana groups present during first meeting of legislative working group

    The first meeting of the bipartisan medical marijuana group featured presentations from several medical marijuana groups.

    The first meeting of the "Medical Marijuana Working Group" featured presentations from Green the Vote, Oklahomans for Cannabis and New Health Solutions. Chip Paul, the author of SQ 788, which implemented medical marijuana in the state, also presented on behalf of Oklahomans for Health.

    The bicameral group of legislators was put together by leaders in the Oklahoma House and Senate shortly after the Oklahoma State Board of Health added two controversial amendments to the rules implementing medical marijuana. Senate Pro Tempore-designate Greg Treat said the group will work towards ensuring SQ 788 is implemented "efficiently, effectively and safely". The group will create recommendations on the framework of the marijuana rules.
