TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — Oklahoma lawmakers are considering whether or not to make it easier for people outside of Oklahoma to get a medical marijuana license.
It's part of a group of bills designed to change the state's medical marijuana program.
Representative Scott Fetgatter from Okmulgee is behind the bills.
The first would remove the two-year residency clause for out-of-state patients, and it would even allow people from states where medical marijuana isn't legal to get a license here.
"Obviously they cannot consume it in whatever state they live in, however, they could come to Oklahoma -- let's say they were being treated for cancer or something like that and they needed some relief from the chemo or that sort of thing and they were in Oklahoma getting those treatments done, they would be able to get a patient card and utilize our medical marijuana program while they are in the state of Oklahoma,” Fetgatter said in an interview with our ABC sister station KOCO.
Another bill involves transferring business licenses, something Fetgatter says would help business owners.
