PAWNEE COUNTY, Okla. (KTUL) — Multiple fire departments responded to a tank battery fire early Sunday morning in Pawnee County.
Someone called Jennings Fire Department about the fire near 36200 Road between 5500 and 5600 Roads around 1:15 a.m.
Oilton, Maramec and Cleveland Fire Departments assisted in putting out the fire.
When firefighters arrived, they saw two tanks on fires and six others that were being threatened by the flames.
There were strong thunderstorms in Pawnee County overnight and JFD said a lightning strike ignited the fire.
Throughout the heavy rain, strong winds and severe lightning, firefighters worked to put out the flames before more tanks caught fire and caused more damage.
