A 36-year-old man drowned at Tenkiller Lake in Cherokee County on Sunday.

Troopers say it happened at the Burnt Cabin Bluffs a few miles southeast of Keys around 3:30 p.m.

Clifton Youngblood of Muskogee was pronounced dead by Cherokee Nation EMS when his body was recovered from the water at 6:30 p.m.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Youngblood jumped off of a boat and started swimming when a witness says he started to struggle and went underwater.

He was not wearing a life jacket.
