Oklahoma City police say officers shot and killed a homeless man overnight after he threatened them with a knife.

Around 11 p.m. Feb. 25, officers reportedly responded to the Courtyard Marriott Hotel on Highland and Memorial for reports of the transient wandering around on the third floor asking people for money.

Police say when officers found the man, identified as 26-year-old Haydon Taylor, he reportedly pulled a knife. Officer Grant Wheeler reportedly gave Taylor verbal commands to drop the knife. Police reports say Taylor ignored the orders and started to move toward the officer. Officer Wheeler then reportedly fired his weapon, shooting Taylor.

Taylor died at a metro hospital.

Officer Wheeler was not injured during the incident. He has been placed on paid administrative leave while the investigation continues.

This is the Oklahoma City Police Department's fourth officer-involved shooting of 2018.
