The Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority has posted information and instructions for medical marijuana licensing.

The agency was required by State Question 788 to have the application information and instructions for patients and businesses up by July 26, 30 days after the election. Oklahoma State Department of Health Interim Commissioner Tom Bates said the applications should clear up information on what is required to apply for a license.

“Our staff has worked nonstop over the past three months to develop this process and I commend their effort," Bates said.

The agency will only accept applications online. The system to accept the applications will go live Aug. 25. They will not be accepted before that date.

A non-refundable fee of $100 for adult patients and $2,500 for businesses will be taken at the time of the application. Minors will also be required to post a $100 application fee, but will be eligible for a $20 fee with proof of SoonerCare or Medicare. Caregivers and research applications do not have a application fee.

Those applying for a license will need a proof of Oklahoma residency, proof of identity and a doctors recommendation form. The forms, which can be found here, must be dated within 30 days of your application.

Once submitted, the applications will be reviewed by staff at the OMMA. If all requirements are met, identification cards will be given out within 14 days. The cards can then be used to purchase marijuana at dispenaries.

The agency noted that information regarding applications reflects recent changes recommended by Attorney General Mike Hunter and are pending adoption by the Oklahoma State Department of Health and Governor Mary Fallin.
