ORU anticipates largest incoming class, majority of students are women

TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) – Freshmen and new transfers moved in Monday at Oral Roberts University.

“One of the most exciting days of the year is move in day at Oral Roberts University,” said William Wilson, Oral Roberts University president. “We have students coming in literally from around the world.”

More than 90 nations are representing one of the university’s largest incoming classes with a 60-40 majority of students who are women, he said.

That’s why the school converted Wesley Luehring Hall, a men's dorm, into Susie North, a women’s dorm.

Gloria Kermanshahi is moving into Susie North. She will be a freshman this year.

“I’m really excited for there to be a stronger female ratio," said Kermanshahi. "I think it will better my chances in making friends and creating relationships so that should be really fun.”

Wilson said they anticipate even more growth next year. That is why the school is planning to build a brand new dorm. They just finished their $50 million campaign to fund it.
