Pilots report unidentified objects in the sky over AZ & CA
The FAA is releasing the audio transmissions of an unusual exchange between two separate commercial pilots and an air traffic controller.
It's from an incident last month when the pilots each reported seeing something they couldn't explain in the sky.
Both were flying over the Arizona desert at the time.
First, the pilot of a Learjet told the controller something had flown over his plane at high speed.
Minutes later, there was this exchange between that controller and an American Airlines pilot:
Air Traffic Control: "American 1095, uh, let me know if, uh, you see anything pass over you here in the next, uh, 15 miles."
Pilot: "Let you know if anything passes over?"
Air Traffic Control: "American 1095, affirmative. We had an aircraft in front of you that reported something pass over him and, uh, we didn't have any targets. So just, uh, let me know if you see anything pass over you."
Pilot: "Yeah, something just passed over us," the pilot said. "I don't know what it was, but at least two-three thousand feet above us. Yeah, it passed right over the top of us."
There's been no explanation of what the object might have been.
And, just this week, a private pilot from the Tulsa area was in California when he and his brother spotted some very unusual contrails in the sky over Yosemite Valley.
They say there was a series of objects that appeared to be moving in a way that seemed to defy the laws of physics.
The brothers plan to send the pictures to NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab to see if they can get any answers.
The Pentagon confirmed last year that it ran an operation to investigate sightings of UFO's.
