Military plane crashes in northwest Oklahoma


    Authorities responded to a plane crash Friday in northwest Oklahoma.

    Vance Air Force Base confirmed that at approximately 1:48 p.m. Aug. 17 a T-38 Talon stationed at the base crashed while on a training mission near Mutual.

    An instructor pilot was on board during the mission and ejected prior to the crash. The pilot remained conscious and was treated by emergency responders.

    The aircraft is a total loss, per a release.

    The plane that crashed had issues with its engine. The pilot tried to reboot his plane, but was not able to and decided to eject himself.

    The pilot is fine, according to reports. He had an ejection seat that was attached to a parachute.

    A citizen in the area saw the parachute and went to find him.
