OWASSO, Okla. (KTUL) -- One suspect is in custody and a second remains at large after a robbery at an Owasso shoe store Tuesday.

Officers responded to Payless Shoe Source near North 121st East Avenue and North Garnett just before 10 a.m. in reference to a panic alarm. Upon arrival, police heard the fire exit alarm on the back door trip and found the clerk in the back of the store with a head injury.

Police say the victim provided a brief description of the suspects and said one was armed with a gun, which the suspect used to pistol-whip the clerk.

Officers searched the alley behind the store where they found one suspect hiding in a dumpster. They also recovered a loaded.380 pistol, which officers believe was used during the robbery.

The clerk was transported to an area hospital for treatment for head trauma. Meanwhile, officers set up a perimeter around the fields behind the shoe store, deploying K9 officers, but came up empty.

An undisclosed amount of money was taken from the store and remains outstanding, confirming to police the involvement of a second suspect.

While the robbery remains under investigation, police say Howard Jones II was booked into the Tulsa County Jail for robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping and firearm possession during a felony after a prior felony conviction. He has a bond of $252,500.
