Police: Not first time they've been to home of couple involved in attempted murder-suicide (KTUL)

One man is dead and a woman is in critical condition after what police are describing as an attempted murder-suicide.

It happened at an apartment complex in Tahlequah near Coy Street and Pendleton Street.

Police say this isn’t the first time they’ve responded to a call for this couple, but it’s certainly the most tragic.

Police think that call for help may have come from a relative but they’re not sure yet.

Names have not yet been released. Police placed their ages between 18 and 30.

Police received the call from someone concerned about the couple, and when they arrived

"In trying to find the apartment itself, they heard a female moaning. Announced themselves Tahlequah police department. Heard her say I've been shot. Looked like multiple gunshot wounds, upper torso, head," Tahlequah police chief Nate King said.

One of the bullets went through the apartment window and hit the house across the street.

"We've dealt with these individuals both in the past, co-habitating relationship at times. There is a child between the two," King said.

The child was not at home, say authorities, and is safe with relatives.

The condition of the woman is critical.

"Just tragedy; it's a baby that's lost at least one parent, got another one fighting for their life," King said.
