Police: 'Prehistoric remains' found at Fort Gibson
FORT GIBSON, Okla. (KTUL) —
Fort Gibson Police Chief Donnie Yarbrough confirmed that part of a skull was found on the Greenleaf Nursery property while workers were digging for a water line.
When the workers came across the skull, they called the Fort Gibson Police Department.
Fort Gibson PD treated it as a homicide and sent photos to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
Chief Yarbrough said agents determined the remains were possibly thousands of years old.
State Archaeologicals came to investigate Friday and suggested they could be "prehistoric remains," but that more analysis was needed.
