Recreational marijuana supporters believe they can get enough signatures this weekend
TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) -- In a matter of months, activists have gathered almost enough signatures to get two state questions involving medical and recreational marijuana on the November ballot.
State Question 796 is a petition to amend the state constitution making medical marijuana legal. While State Question 797 is an amendment to the state constitution making all marijuana legal including for recreational use.
Both already have almost 100,000 signatures a piece. They have to reach 124,000 to get on the ballot.

Kim Danz is one of thousands of volunteers working to get signatures for State Questions 796 and 797.
“The medical marijuana I support, because there’s so many people it can be helpful to,” she said. “The proponents of recreational marijuana say it can stimulate our economy; it can create jobs.”
She will be standing outside The Mason Jar in Mannford starting at 8 a.m. Saturday.
“I was very surprised at the overwhelming support there was in our little town,” she said.
Danz said she thinks the support comes after this week’s decision to not allow smokable marijuana to be a part of 788.
“Because of what the state did, the Department of Health and the governor signing it, I think that’s rallied people like myself,” said Danz.
Shelley Free is an activist with Green the Vote. She said she has personally seen the spike in signatures.
“Due to the citizen response from the public, we have not even been able to keep our petitions in stock,” she said.
Free said they are almost to their goal.
“We’re getting over 100 requests a day,” said Free.
She doesn’t doubt they’ll have enough.

“We’re not really worried about the signature count now. We’re more worried about the deadlines,” she said.
Many volunteers will set up all across the state starting at 8 a.m Saturday available with petitions to sign.
The deadline to sign and submit these signatures is August 8.
