TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — Oklahoma Republican Congressman Markwayne Mullin is making news for allegedly getting upset over new security measures at the U.S. Capitol building.
In the aftermath of last week's deadly riot, Capitol police have installed metal detectors at several entries.
The acting Sergeant at Arms, Timothy P. Blodgett, wrote to House staff: “Effective immediately, all persons, including Members, are required to undergo security screening when entering the House Chamber.”
Multiple reports out of Washington say Mullin got very angry about being subjected to the new security checkpoint and reportedly told police, "It's my constitutional right" and "they cannot stop me."
Lawmakers were also told that they must wear masks or face removal from the chamber if they fail to do so.
Earlier this week, a newly released video from Punchbowl News also showed Mullin refusing to wear a mask when members were sheltering during the riot.
The congressman is seen waving off Representative Lisa Blunt as she tried to hand him a mask.
Mullin didn't respond to our request for a comment about the incidents.
