TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — Safari Joe's H2O closed its gates early for a private medical marijuana party.
Kush Dispensary rented out the park for the 'Puff Puff Splash' event.
“Its going to be so much fun. We’ve got over 60 cannabis vendors setting up booths. Oklahoma’s cannabis business is unlike any other state so we’ve got so many small business, but event like this make it possible for the little guys to be out here with the big guys,” said Katy Anderson, an owner at Kush dispensary
The 18 and up event forced some families to cut their day short.
“We also want to swim late, we also want to have the opportunity to swim late as we can. I just don’t think its great for the culture and the family place because that’s what this place represents, family,” said Kenya Walker.
Organizers said it's more than just a weed party. It's also educational.
“We’re trying to stay medical we’re not trying to get people incapacitated that’s not the point here. The point is to have fun and to learn and to educate,” Anderson said.
Earlier this month we reported on what police say was a shoot out and brawl after a different private party at safari joes but the Kush dispensary owners say they're on top of it.
“We've got actual law enforcement that are here on staff tonight and then we’ve also got other security just out here in the park making sure everyone’s doing what their supposed to do," said Anderson. "We’ve got walkie talkies, we’re just going to be on top of safety."
