The Common Good recently received a much-needed sports equipment donation for their athletic program by Good Sports Inc.

Good Sports is a national organization that drives equitable access in youth sports and physical activity by supporting those in high-need communities achieve their greatest potential on the field and in life.

This special donation included basketball shorts, new balls, a basketball scorebook, practice jerseys, a a hand pump, and more.

“We are so grateful to have been selected to receive these items from Good Sports,” said Athletic Programs Manager at The Common Good Massiel Anguiano. “These items will help overcome financial barriers for youth in our community to participate in sports. It will help our young athletes throughout this season and into the spring and summer athletic programs.”

The athletic programs at The Common Good consist of daily sports activities within its after-school program, as well as competitive leagues for soccer and basketball for elementary, middle, and high-school aged youth in northwest Tulsa.

Recently, the "Little Hoppers" program was launched for pre-kindergarten through first-graders to learn the basics of basketball while gaining physical fitness and learning teamwork.

The Common Good says over 20 kids are participating in this new program.

New programs are being added this spring including baseball and a family disc golf clinic, to encourage parents and their kids to learn disc golf together.
