Tulsa police say a woman is fighting for her life after a collision Thursday morning.

Just before 7 a.m., officers were called to a crash on 21st Street between Sheridan and Memorial.

Investigators said a 14-year-old boy was speeding when he crashed into a pickup truck making a U-turn.

“The driver of the truck was driving east and had stopped at 7300 and for whatever reason was making a U-turn in the road,” said Sgt. Brian Collum, Tulsa Police Department. “She was wanting to turn back west. She paused in the westbound lane.

The woman driving the truck, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the vehicle. She was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

The teen crashed his car into a gas meter. Police say he sustained minor injuries.

“That's another part of our investigation. So him, his sister and his mom worked at the McDonald’s down the street from what we’re told. I don't know if he was running late. All we know is he was trying to get to McDonald’s,” said Collum.

The road was shut down for a brief time while crews cleared the scene, but has since reopened.

“There are numerous charges we’re looking at, at the moment,” said Collum. “We’re still investigating stuff, we’re talking to mom, dad, we’re waiting to see the condition of the other driver so I mean they both contributed but one contributed a lot more than the other.”

Authorities say the teen will face charges stemming from the crash.
