TPD releases names of officers involved in July 3 shooting outside QuikTrip
TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) —
The Tulsa Police Department has released the name of two officers involved in a July 3 shooting outside a midtown QuikTrip.
Sgt. Michael Parsons was shot in the leg during the confrontation with a suspect at the convenience store near 51st and Harvard. Police say two officers tried to talk to a man in a minivan because the tags didn't match the vehicle, but the driver was defiant and eventually opened fire on the officers.
Police say Officer Michael Caweizall returned fire on the suspect, hitting him at least once in the chest. It's not clear what his condition is.
Caweizall is a member of the department's gang unit and has worked for the department since 2013. Parsons is a 25-year veteran of the department.
