TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — The gubernatorial race is coming down to an experienced candidate and one who says he is new to politics.
Kevin Stitt, a businessman, won the Republican nomination, and now, he will face Oklahoma's former Attorney General, Drew Edmondson.
Historical patterns prove that Oklahoma is due a Democratic governor, based on past trends, according political analyst, David Blatt of the Oklahoma Policy Institute. He also says voters have proven they are not happy with some republicans and decisions made in the last year.

"The outcome in November is very much up for grabs, and it is going to depend on very much who runs a better campaign," said Blatt. He says during the primary elections and runoffs, a total of 12 republican incumbents were unseated.
When it comes to Edmondson and Stitt, he says both of them will have challenges. Blatt speculates that Stitt's claim to bring a fresh new approach will be compared to Edmondson's experience.
"It's going to be tricky for Drew Edmondson to present Kevin Stitt, not ready to govern, while also being aware of the fact Oklahomans are looking for somebody new and somebody different," said Blatt.
