TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — The Tulsa County Courthouse is slowly reopening in phases starting on Monday amid the coronavirus crisis.
Following guidance from Gov. Kevin Stitt on his Open Up and Recover Safely (OURS) plan, as well as from other county elected officials, the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) will allow restricted access to the courthouse.
The Tulsa County District Courts will remain closed through May 15, as advised by the Oklahoma Supreme Court.
If you would like to conduct business at the courthouse, you must do so electronically, over the phone or via mail during the initial reopening phase.
Any visitors entering the courthouse will be encouraged to wear a mask.
Tulsa County deputies will require visitors to answer a series of questions before entering the building. Questions may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Tulsa County and elected officials will continue to monitor the reopening guidance by the CDC, Gov. Stitt and the Tulsa Health Department and evaluate the need for changes.
“Just as we slowly implemented changes to eventually restrict the access to the Courthouse, we will slowly implement changes to fully reopen it and all the functions within,” BOCC Chairman Ron Peters said. “We remind our employees and visitors to continue to practice social distancing, hand washing, and proper sanitizing—not only for their benefit, but for all those around them. We will continue to follow the guidance of both the CDC and the OURS plan when it comes to limiting group sizes; enforcing continued adherence to social distancing protocols; and proper cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfection of the Courthouse."
