Police identify 15-year-old victim in deadly east Tulsa shooting
TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) —
Tulsa police officers have identified the teen girl killed in an early morning shooting on Sunday near 21st and Garnett as 15-year-old Britney Urena.
TPD said they initially thought the gunshot wound was self-inflicted, but after speaking to multiple witnesses they determined this was not the case.
Officers say the young girl was rushed to the hospital where she later died.
She had just turned 15 years old last week.
Tulsa police say they have a person of interest, but aren't ready to release their identity at this time.
According to a few witnesses who didn't run away after the shooting, the person of interest was playing around with a gun and accidentally shot Britney.
The shooter took off with the gun. Officers are looking for him now.
