TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — An apparent case of domestic violence landed one man in the hospital in critical condition and his wife behind bars.
Tulsa police say officers were called to a home in West Tulsa around 5 p.m. Wednesday after reports of a shooting.
Police say 73-year-old Linda Burton called dispatch and told them her 70-year-old husband was sitting in his chair with no pulse.
Police said during questioning, Burton admitted to shooting her husband while he was asleep with a gun she took from his vest.
Burton told police she had thought about shooting her husband for days because she believed he hacked into her bank account.
She said her husband woke up and confronted her.
Burton said her husband tried to grab the gun from her, which then went off -- hitting him in the hand and torso.
Police say she waited 15 minutes before calling 911, and said she put a blanket on him.
According to the police report, the man told EMSA, "I can't believe the b----- finally did it."
Crime scene detectives found the gun and say evidence indicates the second shot was fired in the kitchen.
Currently, Burton is in the Tulsa County jail on a $75,000 bond.
