REDDING, Calif. (TND) — A woman called police on her husband after she found a hidden video recording device in the guest bathroom of their home — and thought maybe he recorded their young children using it.
Authorities in Redding, Calif., said the wife confronted 34-year-old Ryan Rovito last Wednesday, March 8, and he admitted knowing about the camera.
They said he vowed to throw it out, but the wife had already taken it, along with the hard drive connected to it.
Then, she called police who got a search warrant for the electronics.
Detectives said they performed a preliminary forensic analysis which turned up more than 900 images of child pornography and multiple videos from that secret bathroom camera.
They said the videos showed children and adults using the bathroom, and the people "did not appear to know they were being recorded."
Thursday, they got a warrant and arrested Rovito during a traffic stop.
He faces charges of possession of child pornography and the secret recording, and he has bailed out of jail.
