Woman shot in the head after neighbor accidentally fired weapon through wall
A man who accidentally fired a weapon in his home and struck a female victim through the wall has been taken into custody.
According to the Lancaster Bureau of Police, Allante Floyd was arrested at his home on E. Liberty St. on Monday and committed to LCP in lieu of $750,000 bail.
Officers arrived to a residence on the 200 block of E. Liberty Street Sunday night to reports of a shooting, where they found a 38-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
According to police, the victim was transported to a local hospital. The mother of two is in critical condition.
One of the 911 callers was a 25-year-old male neighbor, who reported to police that he accidentally fired his gun inside is home while getting ready to clean it and the bullet went through the wall, striking the victim.
According to police, investigators determined the victim was lying in bed in her own residence when the shot was fired through the wall and struck her in the head.
Investigators conducted multiple interviews and believe it to be a tragic but accidental shooting at this time.
Floyd has been charged with recklessly endangering another person, discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, simple assault, and possession of a small amount of marijuana.
