Oklahoma City police are investigating a homicide that happened on Sunday morning.

Police were called to 8404 S. Drexel Place at 2:30 a.m. after getting reports that someone was shot inside the home.

Officers said they found 38-year-old Cory Cade dead inside with "several" gunshot wounds.

Police say it appears that the 16-year-old who shot and killed Cade was trying to stop a physical attack that was happening to another person inside of the home.

"Police learned a physical altercation was transpiring between Cade and another household member at the time Cade was shot," Oklahoma City police said in a news release. "It appears a 16-year-old juvenile shot Cade to stop the attack on the other person."

Police say what lead up to that altercation is still unknown.

Police said the teen fled the scene on foot but was found by patrol officers a short distance away.

The relationship between Cade and the 16-year-old is unknown as of now.

No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 405-297-1200.
