IDABEL, OK (KOKH) — The Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is currently assisting with a fatal officer-involved shooting in Idabel after being requested by the Idabel Police Department (IPD), Choctaw Nation Lighthorse Police Department (CNLD), and the FBI.
According to OSBI, officerswith the Idabel Police Department were dispatched to a home, regarding a domestic violence incident. The arriving officers determined that a male suspect was armed inside the home.
Knowing the suspect was armed, IPD contacted the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, and the CNLD police SWAT team for assistance.
According to investigators, officers attempted to contact the suspect for several hours, but negotiation attempts failed.
Somehow, the suspect gained access to a vehicle and as he was attempting to leave the scene, he drove toward officers.
OSBI said while the suspect drove toward officers, gunshots were fired at the vehicle, ultimately killing the suspect.
None of the officers were injured during the incident.
