"Gunter Pearson senior RB/LB at Oologah High School."

Two way players can be a rare commodity in football. And the Oologah Mustangs have one this season in Gunter Pearson. In a battle of unbeatens, pearson's performance was key in a come-from-behind road win at Catoosa.

"12 carries for 185 yards and 3 touchdowns," recalled head coach Brandon Craig. "[Gunter] continues to be consistent for us on the offensive side of the ball. But he's really an impact player for us on defense. He had 14 tackles as well."

"I'm pretty happy about [last week's performance] but I really have to give credit to our line," admitted Pearson. "They really stepped up there at the end. That's when I got those two touchdowns was the very end."

Pearson's modesty shows in his quiet leadership as well; leading by example on the field and in the classroom.

"He's an outstanding student; takes a lot of college classes," said Craig. "He's just a great leader in our school."

When Gunter was asked about his personal goals for this season, "To win our district," he replied. "Obviously that's a big one for me. And I don't know, just make it back to the state championship and hopefully win it."

So congratulations to Gunter Pearson of Oologah High School for being our Week 5 Ford Award nominee.
