Mike Stoops is out as Oklahoma's defensive coordinator, according to multiple reports.

It is unclear if Stoops was fired or if he resigned. It's also unclear who will replace Stoops as defensive coordinator.

The news comes after Oklahoma gave up 48 points to Texas in a crushing Red River Showdown loss.

Stoops began as Oklahoma's defensive coordinator in 1999 before leaving for a head coaching job at Arizona.

He returned to Norman, Oklahoma, as the team's defensive coordinator in 2012.

    This is a developing story.
