TAMPA, Fla. (KOKH) — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed former University of Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield to a one-year contract that could be worth up to $8.5 million, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The deal reportedly starts at $4 million.
Mayfield joins an organization looking to find a replacement for the recently retired Tom Brady. Aside from Mayfield, Tampa's quarterback depth chart also includes 2021 second-rounder Kyle Trask.
Mayfield split last season between the Carolina Panthers and Los Angeles Rams. In 12 total games, Mayfield had 2,163 passing yards to go along with 10 passing touchdowns and eight interceptions.
In 72 career games, Mayfield has 16,288 passing yards, 102 passing touchdowns, and 64 interceptions.
The Cleveland Browns made Mayfield the top pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. The Browns traded him to the Panthers before last season, and the Panthers waived him after seven games.
