OAKLAND, Cal. (KOKH) — Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray is now expected to enter the NFL Draft.
According to a report from the San Francisco Chronicle, Murray's baseball team, the Oakland Athletics, expects the Heisman Trophy winner will declare for the draft this weekend.
The report says the A's, who drafted Murray ninth overall in the 2018 MLB Draft, don't consider the move contractually significant and does not guarantee the two-sport star will reject the team's $4.66 million contract. Position players report to camp for the Athletics on Feb. 15.
The report also says the A's may consider allowing Murray to attend the NFL Combine. That move would require approval by Major League Baseball.
There's long been speculation that Murray, a potential first-round pick in the NFL Draft, could choose football over baseball.
